Angry Birds
Developer
Rovio Mobile. After several hits on the N-Gage phones they came out with their biggest success “Angry Birds” on the IPhone so far.
Graphics
The graphics of the game are not to write home for and it fits in with the rest of the cartoon games on the market.
Gameplay
The survival of the Angry Birds is at stake. The evil green pigs have taken the eggs and it’s your quest to take back what’s yours and kill all pigs that cross your path. You have an enormous slingshot to shoot all the birds in the various locations of where the pigs are hiding, and by hitting them, or letting something heavy fall down on them you are able to kill them.
Each of the birds you choose has a special ability to make sure they get the job done. Blue birds are for cluster attacks ( by tapping on the screen while airborne ), black birds explode when hitting the target, white birds will drop explosive eggs and there are many more that you can use in for the many obstacles. The 63 levels of the game may require a lot of practice and skill to complete so practice, skill, tactics and brute force are required to get you through the many different levels included in the game.
UI
The game is like most games nearly self-explanatory, all you have to do is try your luck and see what kind of effects your fingers have on the slingshot ( I recon nearly everybody knows how a slingshot works )! Also the variety of birds you are able to shoot will be explained to you by a short intro level, after that it will gradually get harder.
Innovation
On first sight there isn’t a lot of innovation going on but when we consider the work done on gravity and domino effects ( also called physics engine ) which could happen while knocking over any of the blocks/posts you can see that there is a lot more going on than meets the eye. The whole slingshot idea and killing someone or something is the same old, but now in a brand new jacket!
Verdict
Angry Birds is a funny game to play especially in the beginning. However after you have played the game for a quite some time, you may find it somewhat repetitive but the story and funny characters in the game make sure you’ll be entertained throughout the game! Therefore I give Angry Birds 4
,5 out of 5 stars.
